Type Locality and Naming

The type section is located about 28 km northeast of Qishan Mt., Kanggutager, Xinjiang. It was named by Ding Taoquan et al. in 1988.

Synonym: Qi'eshan Fm


Lithology and Thickness

Volcanics, Sandstones and Limestone. Dominated by dark-gray to gray-green pebbly crystal-lithic tuff, altered basalt, calcareous sandstone, clayey limestone, sandy limestone, clayey siltstone, etc. Exposed thickness 905.2 m.

Lower contact

Unconformable contact with the underlying Dananhu Fm

Upper contact

Unconformable contact with the overlying Aqikebulak Fm

Regional extent

Distributed on the south margin of the Hami basin and the marginal north slope area of Qoltag
